Canberra Surgicentre - Accredited Day Hospital
Canberra Surgicentre was officially opened as a Day Hospital by Kate Carnell (Chief Minister) in 1997 and has maintained the highest quality through accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS).
ACHS is an independent organisation, which is dedicated to improving the quality and safety of health care through continual review of performance, assessment, and accreditation. ACHS use the Evaluation and Quality Improvement Program (EquIP) which uses standards and self-assessment processes to identify opportunities for improvement to achieve positive outcomes in patient care.
The overall benefit to the patients of Canberra Surgicentre is that they are assured of being part of a service that is continually improving, providing excellent healthcare which is based on best practices.
Our surgeons and staff are committed in providing the highest standard of patient care.
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Canberra Surgicentre is an accredited day hospital offering a range of oral and maxillofacial procedures. Our patients will firstly have a private consultation at either the Deakin or Braddon Canberra Oral Surgery consulting rooms where they will discuss the recommended treatment with one of our highly qualified surgeons.
If a decision is made to book you in at Canberra Surgicentre, our staff will direct to our day surgery reception where our friendly nursing staff will prepare you a written quotation and estimate of costs for your surgery. They will also assist in finding a suitable surgical date. Our nursing staff will discuss our admission procedures which will include all of the required instructions leading up to your surgery.
Procedures may be performed under local anaesthetic, IV sedation or general anaesthetic depending on individual assessment. Your surgeon will discuss these options with you at the time of consultation.
Broadly speaking, our surgical procedures fall into two main categories:
- Wisdom Teeth
- Dental Implants
- Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorders
- Minor Oral Procedures
- Oral Medicine and Pathology;
