Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Service
Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Service (AHS) is a community controlled primary health care service operated by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of the ACT. In Wiradjuri language, Winnunga Nimmityjah means Strong Health. The service logo is the Corroboree Frog which is significant to Aboriginal people in the ACT.
Our aim is to provide a culturally safe, holistic health care service for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the ACT and surrounding regions. The holistic model of health care provided by Winnunga Nimmityjah AHS encompasses not only medical care, but a range of programs to promote good health and healthy lifestyles.

Winnunga Nimmityjah AHS provides a holistic service to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community which focuses on an individual as a whole person, their family and community.
GP services offered include immunisations, comprehensive health checks, smoking cessation, chronic disease management, preventative programs such as cervical screening, hearing tests, dental checks, and information and support on diet.Contact:

- Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Indigenous, Midwifery Program
Midwifery Program- Winnunga Nimmityjah AHS has a community midwifery team of 2 midwives and one Aboriginal Access Worker. The midwifery team offers antenatal and postnatal care, community at home support, baby health checks, breastfeeding support, immunisations, and a range of women's health services. Our midwives work closely with ACT hospitals, and assist in ensuring continuity of care between Winnunga Nimmityjah AHS and hospital services.
Winnunga Nimmityjah AHS has a comprehensive child immunisation program, and our patients are encouraged to access this. This also allows us to follow up on our patients' progress with post-partum recovery, and to assist them with any needs in relation to caring for their infants.
It is vitally important for high risk clients to have access to Aboriginal specific, culturally appropriate midwifery services, as many choose not access mainstream services without support. Winnunga Nimmityjah provides a quality service in an environment of understanding and respect.

- Dental Health Clinic
Winnunga Nimmityjah AHS opened a dental clinic to service the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the ACT and surrounding region. We employ a dentist and two dental assistants.
The program provides treatment and preventative dental and oral hygiene care. Treatments include fillings, dentures and extractions.

- Healthy Lifestyle Progams
Winnunga Nimmityjah AHS run a number of social health programs and services, employing both female and male counselling and support staff.
The Healthy Lifestyle Program provides lifestyle advice and support, including exercise groups and healthy eating classes.
